Our team is proud to welcome two phenomenal new team members who have joined Team SpeakEasy. It’s our absolute pleasure to introduce you to Adam Troy and Veronica Carbonell!

Name: Adam Troy
Position: Digital & Technology Fellow
📍: Los Angeles, CA

Tell us a little about yourself!
I grew up in a small town in Northwest Georgia called Rome. I received my B.A. in Spanish and Political Science from Skidmore College in 2014. Most recently, I graduated from a Georgia Tech coding bootcamp in 2018. In my political career, I’ve had the privilege to work for such outstanding candidates as Senator Jon Ossoff (when he ran for GA-06), Ron DiNicola (PA-16), and Tiffany Kilpatrick (Mississippi HD-12). I’ve also had the opportunity to travel and experience so many interesting parts of the U.S. along the way! I hope to continue working in Democratic politics in whatever capacity I can (and explore the country while I’m at it)!

Where are you based and what’s your favorite activity to do in your city?
I am currently based in Santa Monica, CA, and my favorite activity is going to the beach for sunsets!

What have you enjoyed most about SpeakEasy so far?
I love how affirmative and collaborative my colleagues are – it’s been a real pleasure working with this group! Plus, I’m a big fan of each of the candidates and causes we support. I think I’ve learned more about state and local politics at SpeakEasy than I have with any other job.

Midterms are approaching soon — what are you most excited for? Is there anything you’re doing to prepare?
I’m looking forward to electing Dems up and down the ballot! This is such a huge year in our nation’s politics. I’m feeling very hopeful that we can flip pivotal congressional districts, senate seats and governor’s mansions across the country! I’m super invested in my home state’s governor’s race (GA), and I couldn’t be happier that Stacey Abrams is running again!

What’s something most people don’t know about you? Fun Facts!
I’m in a Drake music video! Life Is Good (around the 2:18 second mark).

Name: Veronica Carbonell
Position: Campaign Support Associate
📍: San Francisco, CA

Tell us a little about yourself!
I graduated Cum Laude from Florida International University with a B.A. in International Relations and Political Science, with a minor in International Communications. During the course of my time in college, I had two communications internships — on Capitol Hill and at a think tank, The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities — and I also spent an amazing semester abroad in Lyon, France! I’m very grateful to have started my career in political consulting and communications with SpeakEasy and I hope to stay in this line of work for many years to come.

Where are you based and what’s your favorite activity to do in your city?
I’ve just very recently relocated to San Francisco, but before I was based in beautiful, sunny Miami! Going to the beach and hitting some of the most amazing nightlife that Miami has to offer were definitely my favorite pastimes.

What have you enjoyed most about SpeakEasy so far?
The people by far, I have learned a tremendous amount from each of my colleagues and I’m incredibly grateful for their perspectives, expertise, but above all, their kindness.

Midterms are approaching soon — what are you most excited for? Is there anything you’re doing to prepare?
I’m most excited for the opportunity to flip several red seats to blue but also for the opportunity to meet and create relationships with clients, all while working to ensure that their campaigns run smoothly.

What’s something most people don’t know about you? Fun Facts!
I’m Venezuelan and fluent in Spanish!

Both Adam and Veronica are eager to support the SpeakEasy team and help power campaigns across the country. Welcome to the team, and let’s get to work! And if you’d like to learn more about SpeakEasy’s digital and direct mail programs, book a time below – we’d love to chat!
